Jen Ares-Cruz
Personal Trainer – Running Coach

Jen Ares-Cruz, running coach and strength trainer focused on endurance and movement.

After a decade in the corporate world, Jen knew something had to change. What began as a personal outlet—running, lifting, and movement—soon became a career driven by purpose. Now, with more than 15 years in the fitness industry, she helps others reconnect with their physical potential through sustainable, progressive training.

Many of her clients come from high-pressure careers themselves, and Jen understands how overwhelming that life can be. After ten years in marketing, she knows firsthand how stress and burnout can affect both mental and physical health. That’s why she creates fitness routines that help people reset, restore energy, and reduce stress in a way that fits into their real lives.

Training Style & Focus

Jen combines strength training, functional movement, and a deep understanding of physical and emotional stress. She doesn’t believe in exhausting her clients just for the sake of intensity. Progress happens gradually, and she adjusts each session based on how someone shows up that day.

Her sessions often draw from kettlebell work, corrective exercise, and Pilates-style cueing. Clients improve their movement patterns, manage stress through exercise, and develop habits that support long-term results. Whether someone is coming back to fitness or training for a marathon, Jen customizes the process to fit their goals and lifestyle.

Specialties: Strength, Mobility, and Pre/Postnatal Support

With certifications in NASM Corrective Exercise, RKC II Kettlebells, and RRCA Running Coaching, Jen blends strength and performance with injury prevention and recovery. Her coaching helps clients address imbalances, build power, and move efficiently.

She works with runners of all levels, including marathoners, using strength cycles that complement their training blocks. Instead of defaulting to high-volume endurance lifts, she focuses on max strength and power to improve performance without overloading the body. For general fitness clients, Jen uses kettlebells, bodyweight progressions, and functional training tools to improve strength, mobility, and control.

People often seek her out for performance-focused training, kettlebell coaching, and guidance on running-related issues. She also works with anyone who wants to move better, train without pain, and build a body that lasts.

What to Expect in a Session

Jen’s sessions are structured and focused, but always adaptable. She pays attention to each person’s mindset and physical energy. If someone walks in tired or overwhelmed, she makes adjustments to match their needs while still supporting progress.

Her background in Pilates and group instruction makes her especially skilled at explaining complex concepts clearly. Whether she’s teaching a deep core activation or a new kettlebell movement, Jen makes it understandable and practical. Every session builds physical strength and body awareness in equal measure.

Client Highlights

Clients say that Jen listens deeply and helps them feel understood. Her runners often express how much they value her first-hand experience with the ups and downs of training. She knows what it’s like to deal with nerves before a race, lose motivation, and push through setbacks.

Jen is especially passionate about helping people accomplish things they didn’t think were possible. Whether that means completing a marathon, overcoming chronic pain, or simply sticking with a routine for the first time, she makes sure clients see their progress and feel proud of what they’ve achieved.
